In Cavern

ah oui, c'est long...
pas trop le temps non plus d'approfondir ce we,
mais après tout rien ne presse...

La Caverne engloutie (extraits) :

J.D. Barnes:
I have been exploring some leads in abandoned parts of D'ni.
They've lead to some interesting finds.
I discovered something in the Lara documents - something that looked like D'ni language, but was not.
It's quite the puzzle. Though Mr. Davis says he's managed to decipher it
My research into some old records lead me to an abandoned temple in the City Proper.
And that led me to another cavern.
And, there have been some interesting finds there.
Records from the area claim they are not actually D'ni, but other refugees from Garternay.
There have been hints that the D'ni left before the others
And that they were only one of many groups. I expect not all of the Ronay went to Terahnee.
The documents I found in Ongeh'ahn seem to match with that.
They claim to be refugees from hat I think are the 'dregs' of Ronay society.
Later D'ni seemed to have considered Ongeh'ahn to be a myth. Much like Atlantis is on the surface.
The language seems to be either related or derived from D'ni
Many of the words are clearly D'ni. But there are characters in it that do not exist in D'ni.
I do know that someone in D'ni was aware of Ongeh'ahn.
I found a linking book to it in a hidden temple in Kerath'en.
Quite of bit of damaged furniture, I did find a library.
Most of the books have been destroyed by water damage however.

Dimitrios:
Any idea who was the owner of that book ?

J.D. Barnes:
The linking book? My guess is the people who ran the temple.
It was known as the Temple of the Tree's Harvest back in the day.
It was built on top of later by a guildmaster of the Guild of Bankers, however,
and was hidden hings..

Dimitrios:
i am wondering though why these refugees from Gartenay lived in secret.
What was the role in the story if any ?

J.D. Barnes:
It may have to do with their heritage. They referred to themselves as 'Merk'.
Which seems like some sort of social stigma from what I can tell

Professor Clarke:
Merk, isn't that "poisoned water?"

J.D. Barnes:
Hmm... yes, merk is D'ni for poisoned water.
So that would make these people in Ongeh'ahn 'the poisoned'

Professor Clarke:
Ronay came here after the D'ni? Under Ri'neref?

J.D. Barnes:
I'm unclear exactly, professor. But their records seem to indicate they are not "D'ni" per se. Yet they knew of the D'ni
In fact, they claimed to come from a 'mirror of D'ni'

Professor Clarke:
Hmm. Are they still around?

J.D. Barnes:
Unlikely. I've found records showing the area was abandoned before the fall of D'ni

Professor Clarke:
Mirror of D'ni. Sound familiar to me.

J.D. Barnes:
I have found that looks like a rather important building. And still trying to gain access to part of it.

Professor Clarke:
Ah, yes. Here it is. There was a text I was working on a while back.
It read, in part, "D'ni's mirror will have no reflection."

J.D. Barnes:
Professor, oh really? Interesting...

Professor Clarke:
It was curious because it matched up with some grafiti elsewhere.
Graffiti in Temal, one of the areas I was evaluating.

J.D. Barnes:
I've found records showing the area was abandoned before the fall of D'ni.

J.D. Barnes:
as for where it is.. I'm unsure where on Earth it is. Or rather, under it
I am certain it is in the same Age as D'ni, however.

It looks like it has been flooded for a very long time.
I have been able to get to the upper floors of the tallest building in the city.
The entire cavern appears flooded.
